  5. Remove bratwurst from heat and serve hot on a bun, or with your favourite side dish.

Adjust the heat down to medium-low, and continue to simmer, stirring the sausages now and then for thirty minutes, or until cooked through. Add brats to boiling beer and simmer until just done. Then place brats on the grill on low and get that browning we all love.
