The Gin takes on the colour and the sugar content from the sloes, resulting in a sweet, berry coloured Liqueur.

  1. Get 1 ltr Sloes
  2. Prepare 1 ltr Gin

  1. Wash the sloes and put in a freezer safe container. Then freeze for a day
  2. Fill demijohn with the gin and add 1ltr of sloes. Put an air lock on to the demijohn and leave somewhere out of the sun.
  3. Leave for 3 month, carefully shaking it 3 times a week
  4. When the gin is ready make the syrup. Heat equal parts water and sugar on a low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.
  5. Strain the gin multiple times into a different container.
  6. Slowly add the syrup into the gin, giving it a good mix. Taste as you go and stop when you get to your preferred sweetness
  7. Once you have the correct sweetness decant into a glass bottle.

The difference between Gin and Sloe Gin is: Gin is Gin, but Sloe Gin is a Gin Liqueur. It's made by mixing Gin and Sloes. Most good Sloe gins will be sweet to the taste, whilst maintaining the base Gib botanicals and Juniper flavours. The best Sloe Gin for your money is Gordon's Sloe Gin. Rich berry red in colour and sweet to taste, sloe gin is the perfect winter warming tipple when the weather starts to turn a little nippier.
