- Prepare 100 gms makhana
- Take 50 gms sugar
- Take 1/2 litre milk

- Make ready 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Remove from the flame, allow it to cool and blend in a mixer to a coarse powder. You can serve makhane ki kheer warm or chilled. To serve chilled, let the kheer come to room temperature and then chill into the refrigerator for a few hours and then serve. This makhana kheer is served during vrat days as a dessert after a meal or along with the meal.
Instructions to make Makhana kheer:
- In a kadhai heat ghee and roast Makhana for few minutes. Keep stirring.
- Let it cool down. Grind it coarsely.
- Boil milk for 5 minutes and add Makhana to it stirring continuously.
- Let it boil for two minutes add sugar to it. Boil for another 2 mins, till sugar melts completely.
- Add cardamom powder and half of the sliced almonds and cashew to it and switch off the flame.
- While serving add remaining dry fruits and enjoy your Makhana kheer.
To serve chilled, let the kheer come to room temperature and then chill into the refrigerator for a few hours and then serve. This makhana kheer is served during vrat days as a dessert after a meal or along with the meal. You can enjoy it any time of the year, it doesn't have to be fasting days. Made from puffed lotus seeds, this Makhana Kheer or Makhana Ki Kheer is often made in North India during Navratri. In truth, Makhana Kheer is a delicious dessert which can be served on any occasion.
