  9. Take 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder (haldi) -
  10. Take 1/2 cup Dry coconut slices -

Makhana fries in ghee or coconut oil over low heat until crisp. In another saucepan, stir with a little water over low heat. It will melt into a golden brown liquid. Phool makhna or lotus seeds is a power house of nutrition.

Steps to make Makhana mixture:
  1. In a pan, add ghee and mustard seeds and let them crackle.
  2. Then add, peanuts, chana and dry coconut slices. Roast them in ghee for a min.
  3. Then add salt, pepper, red chilli powder and haldi. Mix well.
  4. Now add roasted makhanas. And mix everything well.
  5. Makhana mixture is ready to serve. Store in an airtight container.

It will melt into a golden brown liquid. Phool makhna or lotus seeds is a power house of nutrition. Rich in fiber and they are low on calories too. Phool makhna is widely used in Indian cuisine like roasted makhna, makhna kheer, raita, curry etc. I am yet to try all those.
