  3. Take about 1/2 cup makhana and grind to a fine powder and keep aside.
  4. In a kadhai, take 500ml milk (keep aside 1/4 cup milk to mix milk powder or take extra milk).
  5. Add makhana powder and mix well. Then add milk powder diluted in milk to the kadhai. Mix well.
  6. Add sugar and stir. Add cardamom powder, saffron milk, and mix. After a few minutes add makhana and let it cook for about 2 minutes.
  7. Serve hot.

To serve chilled, let the kheer come to room temperature and then chill into the refrigerator for a few hours and then serve. This makhana kheer is served during vrat days as a dessert after a meal or along with the meal. You can enjoy it any time of the year, it doesn't have to be fasting days.
