To get started with this recipe, we must prepare a few ingredients. You can cook jaggery makhana using 5 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Jaggery Makhana:
  1. Take 1 big cup Makhana(fox nut)
  2. Take 1/4th cup+2tbsp jaggery powder
  3. Make ready 2 tbsp water
  4. Take 1 big pinch salt
  5. Prepare 2 tbsp ghee

Heat ghee in the kadai - add makhana. Break and check, now its done. Transfer roasted makhana to a plate and set aside. Add jaggery syrup let it boil.

Instructions to make Jaggery Makhana:
  1. First take a pan, heat 2 tbsp ghee add the Makhana & roast them on very low flame for 10 minutes or more till they are crunchy. Then remove them on a plate & set aside to cool.
  2. In the same pan heat Jagger powder & 2 tbsp water, mix well then add salt and cook it on medium to low flame till the mixture starts bubbling.
  3. Then add the roasted Makhana and mix well till all the Makhana are coated well. Switch off the flame.
  4. Remove the Makhana on a plate and let it cool, then transfer it into a serving bowl or an air tight container. These stay well for around 10 days.

Transfer roasted makhana to a plate and set aside. Add jaggery syrup let it boil. Gur Makhana or Caramelized Jaggery fox nuts is an Indian and healthier version of the caramel popcorn. It is easy to make and so addictive! Sweet Makhana -roasted puffed lotus seeds /fox nuts sweetened with jaggery, which makes a healthy snack for kids.
